ORIGINAL 1970S RETRO WATCH

TISSOT SEASTAR QUARTZ         REF   MA0690

This is a very handsome piece and obvious quality coming from Tissot - part of the Omega group. Although not new old stock it is in exceptional condition for a used watch and does not appear to have seen a lot of life. It has a high technology quartz movement with jewels and gears unlike the cheap plastic things you get in today's quartz watches. Movement is cal 2030 and a rather early quartz from the mid 1970s, just take a look at the pictures and you can even see the stepper motor which runs it. Setting the time is also an unusual affair. Hours are set by pulling the crown out and turning as normal but the mins are set by pushing the crown in and holding for five seconds , then releasing and pushing back in again . The mins hand then starts whizzing around on its own until you release the crown. Also the second hand can be fine tuned by repeatedly pushing the crown in and letting go which rapidly advances it or just holding the crown in to make the second hand stop until you desire it to start again. This really is a handsome watch with black dial and still very bright luminous batons. There is a date window at 3. The crystal is mineral glass and case and bracelet all in stainless steel. The bracelet being solid link type and rather heavy duty. It is not mint but very close to it and any marks on this watch are faint and hardly considered as detracting. Perfect working order, fitted with a new battery and holding time perfectly. I love these technologically advanced watches and they are getting very rare and sought after by collectors.
