ORIGINAL 1960S RETRO WATCH

Here is a fine example of the very rare Smiths Astral, Circa 1960s. Not to be confused with quartz watch because there is no quartz crystal in here. It uses a Dynatron ESA movement developed from 1962. Inside you will find an electro-magnet and circuit board to swing the balance wheel and from there on is just like a mechanical watch but with just a different power source. The movement is featured on page 124 of Pieter Doensens famous " Watch " book. The watch is in used but fabulous mint condition. New old stock and never worn. This watch has been in storage since the 1960s. The dial is handsome in a silvery grey and furnished with large 3d, chrome hour batons and date window at 3. The dial is excellent with no patina or unwanted marks and the crystal is scratch free. It has a large pillow shape case in brushed stainless steel with high polished bezel and free from any scratches. Comes on its original bracelet (the buckle is not signed) and also is in its original box. There is a separate battery hatch to save removing the back cover when renewing. Running perfectly having just been serviced and holding time very well. Rare, handsome, collectable and at this price is an investement.
