ORIGINAL 1970S RETRO WATCH

PILOT SWISSONIC ELECTRONIC REF MY107

Here is a fine example of the very rare Pilot - by Avia Swissonic, Circa 1960s. Not to be confused with quartz watch because there is no quartz crystal in here. It uses a Dynatron ESA movement developed from 1962. Inside you will find an electro-magnet and circuit board to swing the balance wheel and from there on is just like a mechanical watch but with just a different power source. The movement is featured on page 124 of Pieter Doensens famous " Watch " book. The watch is in used but fabulous condition. The dial is pretty funky looking in silver with large chrome hour markers and furnished with a date window at 3. The dial is excellent with no patina or unwanted marks and the crystal is scratch free. Case and bracelet are all stainless steel and excellent condition , barely used apart from the slightest of scratches . Comes on a period bracelet which was typical for this watch . There is a separate battery hatch to save removing the back cover when renewing. Running perfectly having just been serviced and holding time very well. Rare, handsome, collectible and at this price is an investment.

Watch dimensions

Top case to bottom  42mm , side to side ( without crown ) 38mm , thickness ( crystal to back cover ) 12mm with a 32mm diameter crystal .
