ORIGINAL 1960S RETRO WATCH
CITIZEN COSMOTRON
Quite simply a technological marvel. Circa 1972. Not to be confused with quartz watch because there is no quartz crystal in here. Inside you will find an electro-magnet and transistorised circuit board to swing the balance wheel and from there on is just like a mechanical watch but with just a different power source. The movement is cal 7801A and has a couple of special features that make it stand out. It has a button at 8 o clock position that zeros the second hand and maybe used by the like of a doctor for taking a pulse or for general timing. Very unusual the watch is held upright for date setting and upside down for day setting - a feature I have never seen before wondered how this set until I did a search of the net. The watch is in excellent used condition. The dial is in an olive green tone, which fades darker top and bottom. Furnished with chrome batons and hands with day/date window at 3. The dial is immaculate with no patina or unwanted marks and the mineral crystal is scratch free. It has a large square shape case all hewed from stainless steel and apart from the slightest of nicks or scratches it is near mint. Comes on its original solid link bracelet, which is complete with signed buckle and allows it to fit a large 7.5" wrist. I have buckle extensions, which will allow an extra inch on top of this. Running perfectly and holding time very well. Rare, handsome, collectable and at this price is an investment.
