ORIGINAL 1970S RETRO WATCH

Here is a piece of watch history and technological marvel and the only watch ever made which is powered by the warmth of the wrist. Made and marketed by Bulova, the Thermatron nearly made the firm go bust developing it. It is featured in Pieter Doensen Watch book. A highly collectable watch but not much use as an every day useable watch unless you take some precautions to keep it running. It is a high bred and not fully designed to perfection. In order to keep it running it must be kept on the wrist or in a warm place like your airing cupboard. If the watch is not kept warm and allowed to run out of power it will not start up by itself by warming it up, it will need to be sent away to have the capacitor charged up first. It comes to you running and with a charged capacitor and the crown will be pulled out to its first click. This way the watch will not be running until you push the crown in and power will be kept in the capacitor. This is part of the problems Bulova had when marketing this watch. Very handsome and retro with black dial set in the square aperture and capped with a mineral glass crystal. Unusually the case and bracelet are finished in matt black with polished bezel. The case is chemical blacked stainless steel and comes on its original solid link bracelet. Absolutely brand new condition with no scratches or nicks and just as good as the day it was made. Also it is in perfect working order and holding time well (and will stay that way if you keep it warm and charged or leave the crown pulled out so it is not running). This is the only one I have of this very rare watch and should not think I will come across another. Grab it whilst it is here or you will miss your chance.
